Twin Creeks Science and Education Center Environmentally Responsible Design Strategies
The Twin Creeks Science and Education Center is being constructed in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Designed for the U.S. National Park Service by the architectural firm of Lord, Aeck & Sargent and targeting LEED Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, Twin Creeks will feature a wide array of environmentally responsible design strategies. These include:
- Natural storm water management
- Daylight harvesting
- High-efficiency lighting with occupancy and daylighting controls
- Natural ventilation • High recycled content building materials
- Site harvested stone masonry
- Low-emitting finishes • Waterless urinals
- Electric vehicle charging station
