Mixed-Use Village – Ph I
Greensboro, NC
After completing the Neighborhood Master Plan in 2010, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) selected Lord Aeck Sargent to design the first phase of the new mixed-use residential village.
The Village, located adjacent to the existing campus includes 800 new residential units as well as mixed-use spaces. The project provides more on-campus housing for students while revitalizing the streetscape and neighborhood as part of a larger City of Greensboro Lee Street Corridor plan. The program also includes academic and social spaces that create a living/learning environment.
Important community features are:
- Sensitivity to existing trees and community open spaces
- Blending the campus and the neighborhood
- Providing a template and an anchor for future development along the Lee Street corridor
Phase I, which includes four buildings, is LEED Silver Certified.
