Atlanta Housing Authority
Senior Affordable Housing - Upgrades
Atlanta, GA
Lord Aeck Sargent was contracted by The Habitat Company to provide full architectural services for Common Area Improvements to six Affordable public housing facilities owned by the Atlanta Housing Authority.
This project was funded by a grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The Atlanta Housing Authority’s goal was to use these ARRA funds as a unique opportunity to de-institutionalize their senior high-rise communities, five of which are high-rise buildings, by making them comparable to “market-rate” properties in terms of their appearance, livability, safety, operational efficiency and sustainability. The renovations included substantial building code, equipment and systems upgrades. The unique needs of the residents were carefully considered throughout the design and construction process.
LAS and the consultant team provided a full range of services, from existing conditions surveys, envelope analysis, interior design, construction document preparation and construction administration.
