Peachtree Corners Livable Centers Initiative
Peachtree Corners, GA
On the heels of the adoption of its comprehensive plan, the City of Peachtree Corners commissioned Lord Aeck Sargent to conduct a study and assist in the creation of a plan for the future growth of its newly defined Central Business District.
With its convenient access to the interstate, abundance of available land and proximity to amenities such as the Chattahoochee River, the Atlanta suburb now known as the City of Peachtree Corners experienced massive growth in the 1980s and 1990s as both a nexus of single family housing and major regional office hub. However, decades later, in the aftermath of the great recession, the area began to lose market share to other – more urban – activity centers around the region. Given this context, the so-called Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) focused around a collective growth vision for the City’s massive 1500 acre+ “Central Business District” along Peachtree Parkway.
The resulting plan sets the stage for creating a fully-formed “place” that embodies the values and identity of the newly incorporated city with an emphasis leveraging the hidden assets found within Technology Park- the City’s primary office hub.
