BIM

The definitions of Building Information Modeling (BIM) vary widely. Most describe a 3d digital representation of the physical building. Many go on to discuss the idea of creating a single repository of information about the building which can be of use throughout its lifecycle. And some focus on the collaborative aspects of BIM.

With so many different definitions of BIM, how do you know what to ask for? How can BIM help your core business? How do you know if BIM was delivered? Is BIM an all or nothing proposition? Are there additional costs associated with BIM?

Understanding the realities of BIM is more important than understanding the definition… and they are different. The proliferation of definitions is indicative of BIM not being a one size fits all process. One must respect the uniqueness of each project and then answer the question, “What is the definition of BIM for this project, this campus, this company?” This question requires honest input and guidance from those who have gone through the process.

Lord Aeck Sargent has long been recognized as an early, innovative and successful user and advocate of advanced design and documentation technology. We help our clients navigate successfully through the challenges of this evolving technology by mapping out how to use the advantages of BIM to the benefit of all participants.

Let us help you determine your definition of BIM.
